Victory Free Will Baptist Church-Jackson, TN-Extras
LETTER TO VICTORY FAMILY
Dear Parents;
Several months ago we agreed to take turns in working with the youth. I volunteered Jimmy and me for June through August. We have come up with a plan on this project. Attached is a schedule of proposed studies and activities. More importantly, our studies will revolve around missions, missionaries for the FWB, missionaries of the past, and what we can do to help.
Although we will be concentrating on Missions in June and will continue to study missions throughout the summer, July is Sunday School month where the whole church works to build our Sunday School. We are open to suggestions on how this can best be done.
Since school will start back in August, we will not have a point of concentration for this month.
All of the activities and church events depend on the kids attending. To help motivate them, we are devising a point system which will earn them the opportunity to go to events that we are having. The kids have to attend at least 50% of regular services. They will earn points for attending regular services and points for bringing and using their Bible. Additional points can be earned for attending extra church events and bringing visitors. If 80% of total points needed to attend the Generals game or to go to the Safari, then all expenses will be paid plus extra for food. However, this can not work unless the parents are behind us 150% and unless the other adults in church are supportive. We have a lot of ground to catch to build our youth groups the way we would like to see them. We need help because we are not as young as we once were; that goes without saying and I will still be working a full time job this summer.
Our first two projects in June are to raise money for missions. On the first Wednesday in June, no meal is scheduled, but the kids will serve a spaghetti dinner that Jimmy and I will prepare for that night. Participants will get 17 points for that night if they bring their Bible and participate. Then on the following Saturday, we will have a free car wash (donations accepted) at the parsonage for missions. Ten points for participating in this. After studying the FWB missionaries and others, the kids can decide which missionary to donate the money to.
If you look at the attached schedule you will see everything that has been planned and the proposed scores that the kids can attain for attendance and participation in regular church service and in extra activities. The numbers at the side are scores if the kids do as proposed.
Attendance is 5 points
Bring their Bibles is 7 points
Bring a visitor is 15 points
Attendance at extra activities is 10 points
So, for a Sunday AM and PM attendance with Bible at each service, the total points is 24 points. Visitors would be in addition.
Wednesday PM is 12 points.
The numbers of 137 and 160 are for perfect scores with 2 visitors brought during the month. These scores are important. If our kids get 85% of 132 or 160 then we pay for everything at the Generals game and at the Safari including hotdog and coke at the game and a carton of animal food at the Safari. They get extra points for attending and assisting in the VBS Day (Studying the Ten Commandments). There will be other ways to make points during the
We have 2 events planned for the preschool age group, Chucky Cheese and Water Day at the church. Then, in August, a Back to School Bash.
We are aware that many kids have nonresident parents or grandparents which they go to for visits. It is possible that the kids could be at Victory anyway. We want to build the church youth program and it is going to take work and dedication from the all the adults and participation from the kids. However, I need your assistance. We can not accomplish all this without from help.
